The
national culture of any people is the strongest means of integrity
and survival of that people. Based on this belief, in April 1982,
the Iranian Cultural Association (ICA) known as Kanoon-e Doustdaran-e
Farhangh-e Iran was established. The main mission of the ICA is to
bring together those Iranians who are interested in Iranian culture,
regardless of their religious, political and ideological differences
with the utmost goal of maintaining and promoting the common
cultural heritage and identity within the Iranian community of
Washington Metropolitan Area.
Since 1982,
the ICA has regularly held a series of lectures, panel discussions,
cultural events and conferences to achieve the mission of the
organization. Prominent lecturers and scholars from United States,
Europe and other parts of the world, regardless of their religious,
political and ideological views, have been invited to share their
knowledge and experiences with audiences in an open and free
atmosphere of friendship and hospitality. The presentations and
lectures generally encompass varied and broad fields of science,
literature, history, religion, arts and social sciences. Each
lecture topic and cultural program, announced at the beginning of
every month, is carefully reviewed and selected by the Lecture
Committee of the ICA.
As a pioneering association offering cultural and social activities to Iranians and Iranian-Americans, the ICA has proven to be instrumental in bringing together great numbers of artistically talented people, with different literacy and social tendencies and thoughts, who have later established their own independent associations and groups. The Executive Committee of the ICA welcomes all the groups and individuals interested in Iranian culture to attend our Monday night cultural events and promote the cause of the ICA. We are proud to be the longest running and most steadfast Iranian association in the Washington area.
